R290 split Air Conditioners - Discussing ways to unlock global and European market uptake

Rising ambient temperatures, increasing population and urbanization boost the worldwide demand for space cooling at a rapid pace. Split-type air conditioning systems (split ACs) have become the number one space cooling appliance worldwide with a huge two-fold climate impact. Many appliances still use climate-damaging refrigerants and consume unnecessary amounts of energy and in many countries split ACs make the largest share in terms of energy use and hydrofluorocarbon (HFC)-related emissions.

Climate-friendly and energy-efficient alternatives already exist today. So far, only Indian and Chinese manufacturers have started to develop and introduce efficient split AC models with climate-friendly hydrocarbon (R290) refrigerants as alternatives to HFCs.

The webinar aims to bring together split AC market actors and cooling experts to discuss on what is required to unlock the market uptake of efficient R290 split Air Conditioners. The webinar includes an update on current global and European market trends and further guidance on the factors that are deemed crucial for a successful market transition, followed by a structured discussion.

All participants are encouraged to participate in an insightful discussion about the presented results Please note, that the number of participants is limited. For any queries related to this webinar, please contact Lara Teutsch (lara.teutsch@giz.de).
